🕊️ IN LOVING MEMORY OF DERRICK HARRIOTT 🕊️
A LEGENDARY VOICE. A MUSICAL PIONEER. AN ENDURING LEGACY.
The International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) and Martin’s International extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and countless admirers of the legendary Derrick Harriott, whose passing marks the loss of one of Jamaica’s most treasured musical pioneers.
Derrick Harriott was far more than a gifted singer. He was a songwriter, producer, record label owner, and cultural visionary whose contributions helped shape the sounds of ska, rocksteady, and reggae. Through timeless recordings such as The Loser, What Can I Do, and Solomon, he gave generations of music lovers a catalogue that will continue to resonate across the world.
His work behind the scenes was equally significant. As a producer and music entrepreneur, he helped nurture talent, preserve Jamaica’s musical heritage, and carry the island’s distinctive sound to international audiences.
For decades, Martin’s International and the International Reggae and World Music Awards, founded by Dr. Ephraim Martin in 1982, have celebrated the artists, musicians, and industry pioneers whose work has elevated reggae and world music on the global stage. Derrick Harriott’s remarkable contributions stand proudly within that rich cultural tradition.
As we reflect on his extraordinary journey, we celebrate not only the music he created but also the foundation he helped build for future generations of Jamaican artists. His influence will remain woven into the fabric of our culture, our history, and our collective musical memory.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that his music, artistry, and legacy will never be forgotten.
Rest in eternal peace, Derrick Harriott. Your voice may be silent, but your music will sing forever. 🇯🇲❤️💛💚
With deepest sympathy,
Dr. Ephraim Martin and the Martin’s International Family

🕊️ A TRIBUTE TO DERVAN MALCOLM 🕊️
Martins International and the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Dervan Malcolm.
The passing of Dervan Malcolm is an immeasurable loss to Jamaica and to the many people whose lives he touched through his remarkable career in broadcasting, journalism, public service, and community advocacy.
For more than three decades, Dervan’s voice became synonymous with professionalism, knowledge, integrity, and purpose. Through his work on Power 106 FM, including Both Sides of the Story, and through his dedication to connecting Jamaicans at home and across the Diaspora, he created spaces for meaningful conversations, education, empowerment, and understanding.

His contribution to Jamaican media and public life will not be measured only by the programmes he hosted or the accolades he received, but by the lives he influenced and the conversations he helped shape.
Today, we pause to honour his legacy and to acknowledge the profound impact of a truly distinguished Jamaican communicator.
To his family, may you find comfort in knowing that Dervan’s work, his voice, his passion, and his legacy will continue to live on through the countless people he informed, encouraged, and inspired.
