IRAWMA is the longest-running award event of its kind, having honoured most, if not all of the top entertainers of reggae and world music. The event was launched with the objective of acknowledging and honouring the accomplishments and contributions of entertainers in various categories of reggae and world music, and to promote greater participation and acceptance of Reggae, Caribbean, African and other World Music internationally. It is highly respected in the global music fraternity as each year awardees are selected not only from Jamaica but also from the USA, the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and more.
