James Chambers OM, popularly known as Jimmy Cliff was inducted into the IRAWMA’s Hall of Fame in 1988. He received his first IRAWMA award in 1984 when he was given a special honorary award for his humanitarian efforts. Born in Jamaica, Cliff is known worldwide for his tremendous catalogue of ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul music, including "Wonderful World, Beautiful People", "Many Rivers to Cross", "You Can Get It If You Really Want", "The Harder They Come" and many more. In 2003 Cliff was awarded the Order of Merit by the Jamaican Government, the highest honour that can be granted for achievements in the arts and sciences and in 2010 he was one of five performers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. IRAWMA is proud to have been the first to recognise and formally honour Jimmy Cliff for his musical genius and the contribution he has made to the growth and popularity of Jamaican music.
